When David and I began planning our wedding in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic, we sat down and named what we valued as a couple: generosity, hospitality, natural beauty, community, and our faith. Because we wanted our wedding day to reflect who we are, we used these values as guidelines to help us make selections and decisions. Part of what makes wedding planning so stressful are the millions of choices and decisions that need to be made (and often, differing opinions and stakeholders). Knowing what we valued helped us sort through what we wanted and what we did not want, as well as helped us cast a vision for the day that in turn helped us to think a bit more creatively in the midst of our "norm" being turned upside down.
